Finally, this is the time of year when many of us and our friends have a few well-deserved extra days off work and school. It can be difficult to coordinate with friends around the holidays with family obligations and office parties in the mix, but true friends are always worth the effort.

If you’re tired of meeting up at the same old bar every time you get together, why not mix things up a bit? Here are some unique group activities to suggest to your adventurous crew to break up the monotony and try something different together!

Exploratorium Thursday Evening Happy Hour

Make your brain work for those tempting cocktails as you enjoy happy hour at San Francisco’s Exploratorium. There are hundreds of interactive machines here to spark your group’s imagination, and it’s just a 15-minute walk from Fisherman’s Wharf. Stop by on Thursdays between 6 pm and 10 pm for this adults-only peek into science, art, and curiosity. Each has a different them, so it’s worth coordinating even if you’ve been here before.

Harlem Afternoon Jazz Series

What better way to spend a day off in New York City than listening to amazing jazz music with your friends? Stop by any Tuesday at 11:30 am to get into this 90-minute show that will inspire your group’s musical side. There’s a different artist featured every week, and performances are split into two sets: one starting at noon and the next at 1:45 pm.

X Comedy Uncensored Fun at Flamingo Las Vegas

This is the sort of comedy show you might not want to bring your parents or a first date to. However, it’s perfect for a fun night out with your best friends! The X Comedy show takes place in Bugsy’s Showroom at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, which also features exciting adults-only shows like “X Rocks” and “X Burlesque.” Nancy Ryan and John Bizarre are your comedian hosts for the night’s show featuring magic tricks, celebrity impersonations, and hilarious raunchy jokes.

Scavenger Hunt Adventure

Put your wits and city savvy to the test on a scavenger hunt adventure with your best buds. The Los Angeles scavenger hunt begins on Olvera Street on a course from Union Station to the Bunker Hill area. You’ll walk, run, use the metro system, and consult your smartphones to decipher clues and compete against another team or just have fun. We offer scavenger hunts in lots of other cities too, including San Diego, Atlanta, Portland, Chicago, New York, and Dallas!

Scooter Rentals

Some parts of the country are way too cold right now to consider hopping on a scooter to see the sights, but not Miami! If you live in the area or are visiting Southern Florida for a little wintertime fun in the sun with your friends, book scooter rentals for your group to experience the city in style. Scooters are economical, eco-friendly, and save you the hassles and headaches of parking. The rental shop will teach your group the basics of scooter operation and the rest of the day of exploration is up to you!

Summer in Miami is hot, hot, HOT…and we’re not just talking about the temperature. All throughout the year, Miami is the place to go for beaches and clubs; however, you can find much more to do than just that.

These are some of our favorite ways to beat the Miami heat this summer. Take advantage of the city’s perfect location along the Atlantic Ocean and cool off!

Surfing Lessons

Spending time in Miami without learning to surf should be a crime! Our surfing lessons provide professional instruction and all the equipment you need to feel safe on the board and in the water. This is a great experiential gift to buy for someone who’s always wanted to try surfing, or for yourself to simply try something new. The lessons last about an hour and are beginner-friendly.

Learn to Sail

Sailing is a big part of Miami culture, so why not take a lesson to learn a bit about it yourself? We can hook you up with a three-day sailing group course that will teach you all the basics. The first two days will feature classroom instruction and on-the-water practice with certified instructors. Some of the things you’ll learn include rigging, knots, tacking, and jibing. This should prepare you to set sail on your third day. Thanks to Miami’s beautiful weather, this experience is offered year-around.

Windsurfing

Windsurfing is one of those water sports that many beach-goers see and get intimidated by. Our windsurfing courses are perfect for beginners, and the highly-trained instructors will get you trained and confident in just two hours! Beginner lessons for all ages are taught three times per day and are offered year-around.

Miami Flyboard Experience

Another somewhat intimidating water sport that’s definitely worth a try during your time in the city is flyboard. In our Miami Flyboard Experience, you’ll get the thrill of wearing a jet pack for 30 minutes or one hour while soaring through the air above the Biscayne Bay. Lessons are offered every day and allow you to experience Miami in a really unique way.

Parasailing

If you’ve never gone parasailing before, just know that Miami is a great place to experience it. You’ll soar above the ocean, downtown Miami, and South Beach, reaching heights of 600 feet and getting a unique view of the surrounding landscape. Parasailing experiences run between 10 am and 6 pm every day and include a 30-45 minute boat ride to reach the launch site. You’ll have up to 10 minutes of air time for a single ride or up to 15 minutes for a tandem ride.

Open Water Scuba Diving Certification

Head just south of downtown Miami to beautiful Coral Gables to take our Open Water Scuba Diving Certification and really experience the coastal waters of south Florida. This course sets you up to make four ocean dives over half-day sessions in Key Largo, and all courses are led by PADI master diver trainers. This experience requires a full three-day or four half-day commitment; however, scheduling can be flexible and personalized. Aspiring divers will receive a PADI open water dive certification for a maximum dive depth of 60 feet.
